Alexander Van Cibor, DDS
Smiling is important. First impressions when meeting someone new, playing with your children, receiving great news…that’s when we smile! A smile can help cement a friendship, but not smiling can be just as powerful. My purpose is to help you achieve and maintain proper oral health but I also want to connect with you on a personal level to make sure you leave our practice confident and ready to smile.
Growing up, I had a wide variety of interests. I felt a draw to be creative and artistic, but I also appreciate when things are systemized and organized. I liked interacting with people, yet also prided myself in being able to work individually. I was nerdy and liked to learn, but also enjoyed working with my hands.
Slowly but surely, I came to realize that I wanted to be a dentist. I love that dentistry requires intellect, artistry, and empathy. Most importantly, however, I love that I can truly help people in our community.
I am a born and raised Grand Haven Buccaneer and completed my undergraduate education at the University of Michigan, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree with distinction in Anthropology. My time at Michigan helped solidify my commitment to become a dentist and I was ready to start my doctoral training.
I chose to attend Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, WI, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Between rigorous tests and honing my clinical skills, I fell in love with my fellow dental student, Dr. Kristen Billingsley. We got married in 2016 and she served as an officer in the US Navy Dental Corps. Her Navy posting led us to Bremerton, Washington where we lived from 2016—2022.
After dental school, I received a scholarship to serve in the National Health Service Corps. This award allowed me to provide dental services to thousands of patients with limited access to care. After my commitment to the NHSC, I worked at a wonderful private office in Silverdale, WA. I love practicing dentistry with a multifaceted approach and stay up to date with extensive continuing education and an active membership to the West Michigan District Dental Society, Michigan Dental Association and American Dental Association.
I get so much joy when telling my patients that they’re cavity free after we worked together to develop a custom oral health regimen. I can feel my patients’ confidence skyrocket with their first smile after delivering a cutting-edge cosmetic service. I get so much satisfaction when I can provide someone relief from an unexpected and sometimes debilitating toothache.
At the core of my practice is my desire to find and utilize the most advanced techniques available to provide the best quality care to each individual. I am a self-admitted perfectionist, and insist on delivering only the best possible care to my patients. I am an open communicator, and will always take the time to discuss your specific condition and answer any and all questions. Earlier in my career, I made it a habit to always ask myself “What would I do if this was my mom, grandfather, or child?” I no longer have to ask myself that question—it just comes naturally.
No matter what, I will faithfully advise doing what is best for you.
My wife and I have 3 children—Franz(6), Louisa(4), and Ingrid(2) and live nearby our practice with our goldendoodle dog, Otto. We love the outdoors and traveling—especially hiking, biking, skiing, and swimming. We really value family dinners together, meeting new people, and exploring all that West Michigan has to offer.
Dentistry goes beyond just fixing teeth—proper oral health can truly be life-changing. Rest assured that I am here to listen to you, collaborate with you, and provide you with the highest quality care. I am proud of our Marigold Family Dentistry Team and look forward to meeting you.
